Jamilah was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She attended Widener University earning her Bachelor of Arts in Special Education in 2006, as well as, her Pennsylvania state teaching license in Special Education. In 2007, Jamilah began graduate school at Saint Joseph’s University and earned her Master of Science in Education focusing on Reading in 2009, in addition to her Pennsylvania state teaching license as a Reading Specialist and ESL Program Specialist. Gaining an interest in becoming an administrator, in 2014 Jamilah returned to Saint Joseph’s University to complete another graduate program. In 2017, she earned her second master’s degree in educational leadership, in addition to her Pennsylvania state license to be a special education supervisor, supervisor of curriculum and instruction, and principal.
Meet Jamilah, The IEP Coach
Jamilah began her teaching career in 2006 in Philadelphia, PA and spent her last few years teaching in Montgomery County, PA. Currently, Jamilah is Special Education Coordinator at a school in Brooklyn, NY. Over her teaching career, Jamilah has taught in urban and suburban school districts, and at all levels, i.e. elementary and secondary. She has instructed students with specific learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, emotional disturbances, intellectual disabilities, and average performing Autistic students. In addition, Jamilah has instructed students in co-taught and resource room settings. Furthermore, she has instructed weekly social skills classes for students with socialization needs and has tutored children with special needs as well.
