Meet Jamilah, The IEP Coach
Born and raised in Philadelphia, I'm Jamilah F. Bashir, and I bring a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and expertise to the world of IEP special education. Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education, a Master's in Education, and another Master's in Educational Leadership, I've dedicated over two decades to fostering the skills and abilities of both special education teachers and the students they serve.
Experience and Reach
With over 20 years of experience across Charter, Public, and Private School sectors, I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges that special education presents. I am also the proud author of "Because of H.E.R" as well as a range of specialty books and courses tailored for the IEP space. Through my website and social media, I reach an audience of over 5,000 people each week, providing resources, tips, and strategies that make a real impact. I have a proven track record of expertise. I've authored more than 1,000 Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and guided numerous teachers and parents, equipping them to comprehend IEP's effectively. Additionally, I've coached educators in IEP writing, progress monitoring, and classroom support. My extensive experience spans various disability categories, including Autism, Specific Learning Disability, Intellectual Disability, Other Health Impairment, Emotional Disturbance, and Specific Language Impairments. I've led numerous professional development sessions on diverse Special Education topics and aided numerous parents in transitioning to life after high school. Through my guidance, clients have not only gained knowledge of the IEP process but have also seen a boost in their teacher practice and confidence. The feedback from my clients has been overwhelmingly positive, reflecting my commitment to delivering exceptional results.
Why Work With Me?
Having graced platforms like the Educators Moving On (EMON) LIVE Conference and the 12th Annual Progressive Education Summit, my work in the field has been recognized and celebrated. I've shared my insights on podcasts like "The Impact of Educational Leadership" with Isiah Drone and "The Dope Muslim Woman Podcast." Furthermore, I am incredibly honored to be the recipient of awards from Advocate for Me, LLC, and the Jordan A. Smith Foundation.
Outside the Office
When I'm not leading professional development sessions for educators or coaching parents and teachers about the IEP process, you'll find me embracing my love for travel, enjoying Broadway shows, attending live performances, or giving back to the community through service projects.
